Podul de fier peste râul Olt, din zona Munteni, a fost redat circulației!
Lucrările de reabilitare a Podului de fier peste râul Olt, situat pe DJ 678 A, pe raza comunei Galicea, au fost finalizate, iar acesta a fost redat circulației miercuri, 22 iunie 2022.
Investiția, în valoare de 2,5 milioane lei, face parte dintr-un proiect amplu al Consiliului Județean Vâlcea, care a primit o finanțare europeană de 16,5 milioane euro, pentru modernizarea întregului drum județean 678 A, care pleacă din DN 64 (Tătărani) traversează comunele Mihăești, Galicea, Nicolae Bălcescu și ajunge la Milcoiu (DN 7).
Podul are o istorie interesantă. Lucrările de construire au început în anul 1927, doi ani mai târziu au fost sistate și au fost reluate în anul 1934. Cele două grinzi metalice care alcătuiesc suprastructura podului au fost aduse de la Cernăuți, de la un pod de cale ferată dezafectat.
Singurele lucrări de consolidare de la punerea lui în funcțiune, în anul 1941, au fost efectuate de RAJDP Vâlcea, în anul 2002.
Prin redarea în circulație a podului, se revine la varianta inițială de trafic, care oferă posibilitatea celor care vin din zona de sud a județului să scurteze drumul către București, evitând zona aglomerată a Râmnicului.
